Save to Share point icon missing in excel 2013

1. open the sharepoint document library in fire fox.
2. navigate to the xl file already updated to document library
3. download the copy of xl
4. Firefox will ask you to open with excel – click ok
5. once the excel is opened, save the excel file – this should make the hidden icon bring back the share point icon.

Update share point farm account

Perform the following steps to change the password in SharePoint.

1.Login to the server with the new credentials.

2.Open elevated command prompt .(Run as administrator)

3.Navigate to the following path. (C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\BIN)

4.To navigate copy and paste the following in the Command Prompt.
Cd /d “ C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\BIN”

5.Execute the following command
stsadm -o updatefarmcredentials -userlogin corp\SharePoint Account -password NEWPASSWORD
NOTE: Replace NEWPASSWORD with the New Password.

6.Once the below message has been received.
Operation completed successfully.

7.Execute the following command.
iisreset/noforce

8.After receiving the below message, proceed with Step 10.
Attempting stop…
Internet services successfully stopped
Attempting start…
Internet services successfully restarted

9.Execute the following command
stsadm -o execadmsvcjobs

10.After receiving the below output, proceed with step 11.
The administration service is running so all administration jobs will be run in the timer service.

11.Execute the following command
stsadm -o updateaccountpassword -userlogin corp\Sharepoint Account -password Password456 –noadmin

12.Finally the below message appears.
Operation completed successfully.

  1. Follow the steps to modify the master pages as described in hide site contents link.
  2. Replace the following section:

  3. Replace the section with following code with wrapper:

Note: When there are no links to display under the gear button, the gear button will not be visible.

  1. Login as site administrator for the site collection from a location where “share point designer is installed”.
  2. Click on gear icon
  3. Click on the site settings
  4. Click on Web Designer Galleries >> Master Pages
  5. Check out Seattle. MasterScreenShot009
  6. Tick mark the check left of seattle.master and edit the page. ScreenShot010

Permission controlling the share button can be access as follows:

  • Site Settings
  • Site Permissions
  • Select the group for which the share button needs to  be removed
  • Click on Access Request Setting
  • Uncheck the Allow access requests

Provide or remove access via group permissions.
